Much to my regret the profider that hosted my webpages for more than 25 years has announced that after 1 July 2026 they end the hosting service. Therefore all my web pages have been moved to another provider, which means the base URL changes from https://josvg.home.xs4all.nl/ to http://www.josvg.dds.nl/. The current page can now be found here. |
Surrender, The unexpected songs
Note: The CD The Andrew Lloyd Webber Collection from 1997 contains 11 of the songs from Surrender (2 of which are in English rather then the translated version) and 5 other songs. (See also the CD Sings the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber from 1992.)
Unfortunately the lyrics of the songs don't come with the CD. I received a lot of the lyrics from visitors of this page [many thanks!], found others on the Web or wrote them down myself. And I have also received (literal, rough) English translations of the non-English lyrics [many, many thanks!!]. If you have corrections and/or additions please let me know.===> All lyrics on a single page (28.3 kb)

(The word 'surrender' on the CD cover is written in metallic
letters, which does not show up nicely in these pictures.)
Note: The address of the
Sarah Brightman Fan Club mentioned
in the CD-booklet is wrong.
Begin November 1996 I bought this CD of Sarah and again I must
conclude that Sarah can sing like only a few people can:
all songs clearly show that Sarah's voice is more than great.
The songs on this CD are recorded especially fot this CD.
Song 11 ("Pie Jesu"), however, is recorded some 10 year ago and Sarah's
voice sounds very different from all other songs (which is a bit of a pity).
I think that song 9, "Everything's Alright", doesn't fit in
with the rest of the CD because of the kind of song it is, though
Sarah sings it well (maybe I don't like it so much because two men
sing on it too).
Song 12, "Amigos Para Siempre", was the official theme of the Olympic games
in Barcelona, 1992, and therefore somewhat more 'commercial', which makes it
less wonderful, though Sarah's voice is again very good.
