Sarah Brightman

[CD-cover] Classics: The Best of Sarah Brightman

In 2001 a compilation CD with only a few new songs was released worldwide, except Europe, called Classics. A European release was originally scheduled for March 2002, but was delayed until end 2006. At the same time, worldwide except for Europe, another collection album was released, named Diva: the singles collection. Why this particular album is called "Classics" is a mystery, since it contains only a few songs also on the original version.

Below the track list of the European version of Classics is given. The cover of the CD is almost the same as the original release: it now has also the words "The best of" (note that the cover shown on the official website in the "sound & vision" section is the one from the 2001 non-European version).

What is the point of this CD? I mean: why release yet another collection CD? And why again a different version? And why only Europe, whereas the rest of the world (i.e. not Europe) get another collection albumd, named Diva: the singles collection. All of this makes not sense and is very irritating!!

The official website writes:

This new release is a compendium of songs handpicked by Sarah as her favorites. Some of the tracks on this album served as inspiration for Sarah's early forays into opera, and her subsequent innovative fusions of ethnic and traditional music.

Read all about the impetus behind these recordings in the liner notes, which feature Sarah's personal commentary.

CLASSICS comprises seventeen gorgeous arias and songs that have made Sarah a global star in the last few decades. Tracks range from "La Wally" to "Nella Fantasia", from "Time To Say Goodbye" (with Andrea Bocelli) to "Anytime Anywhere", and from "La Luna" to "Pie Jesu" (which famously sold 25,000 copies on the day of its release in 1985, shooting to No. 3 on the UK charts).

Fans who purchase this CD will have exclusive access to bonus material via this Official Site.

Ah, so this CD is just released to make money, is that it???? Well, well.

The bonus material, which is the same as the bonus material for Diva: The single collection, is a video called Listen To The Rhythm Of The Falling Rain (from 1983).
