This page lists the older Fan Club messages, going back to 1997, which were removed from the Fan Club page to keep that page from becoming real long; these messages are kept here "for the record", so to say.

1999

On 20 August 1999 I received a letter from Linda, in which writes some things about Sarah's One night in Eden tour, for instance that every show she saw "was a resounding success and Sarah's performance was faultless, with her beautiful voice at it's peak" -- well, I can agree with that for the concert I saw. According to the New York Post: "The performances in New York proved that the glory days of Sarah Brightman are just beginning."

One of the things Linda writes is that the video accompanying the tour will be released in Europe on 5 September; there is no mention of releases elsewhere in the world. Furthermore, Linda gives a list of additional concerts in the USA, and she points the official Sarah Brightman web site, but unfortunately with a typing error.

1998

On 17 December 1998 I received another letter from Linda (stamped on 15 Dec.). Linda writes that it has been "another busy and successful yaer for Sarah" and mentions several promotional activities from our Angel of Music. She also writes that in July Sarah had
... a photo session with famous photographer Ellen von Unwerth, who photographed the last Janet Jackson album cover. Hopefully we can all get a chance to see these beautiful shots when they are used on Sarahs official Web site due anytime.
Well, I'm looking forward to these photos! (Don't know if "Janet Jackson" is a good sign or not: don't like her singing very much.) And I wonder what this Web site is going to be like ...

Linda furthermore writes:

October saw the completion of Sarah's new album called "EDEN". Of the two dozen tracks recorded, fifteen have been selected to appear on the final cut.
Makes you wonder which other songs were recorded and why those were not selected. (By the way, the photos in the CD-booklet are from Simon Fowler.) Linda adds:
The new album has been released in Europe on November 9th and due to be released in U.S.A. and elsewhere in February 1999.

And Linda gives some dates and venues of the 1999 Tour, in that letter called "Showtime", but actually named One night in Eden.

In her July 1998 dated letter, Linda writes that Sarah has been doing a lot of promoting activities in the past few months. This is follows by this remark:

Sarah's new album, which as yet is untitled, is currently being recorded. I'm informed that everything is going really well, and hopefully it should be due for release at the beginning of November. Once again the London Symphony Orchestra will provide the accompaniment. The label will be Eastwest Records (Warner) in Europe and E.M.I. (Capitol) in the rest of the world.
A world tour will follow in 1999, with a schedule of around 50 performances. The tour will be organised by Europe's number one promotor.
The remark about the London Symphony Orchestra seemed to indicate that the CD will be opera-like, like the "Timeless" / "Time to say goodbye" CD.
But there must be an error here: I am told that the CD is with the National English Orchestra, conducted by Paul Bateman -- like the Concert in Edinburgh I have attended.

On 16 February 1998 I received a letter from Linda, which starts with wishing us all a Happy New Year. Then Linda writes:

I had hoped to bring exciting news regarding Sarah's world tour, unfortunately this has been postponed until 1999, to coincide with a new album which will be released world-wide at the end of this year.

Sarah has just completed two days of promotion in the UK for her video "Sarah Brightman in Concert", filmed last year at the Royal Albert Hall in London. It is currently on general release by Warner Vision. The video is scheduled for release in the USA in April, distributed by VCI (Columbia Trustier).

And Linda goes on with some promotional activities of Sarah, which I won't repeat here.

1997

On 19 November 1997 I received a letter from Linda, which starts like this:
With 1997 coming to an end, it's "Time to say goodbye" to a very successful year for Sarah. The hit single reached number one in most of Europe and the album, Timeless, achieving platinum success. (...)
Throughout the summer and autumn of this year, Sarah has performed a number of concerts in England and Germany. (...) Each performance was sold out, with reports of standing ovations every night.
As for these last remarks: they are only partly true. The concert I went to in Edinburgh on 5 September was not sold out, certainly not. But then again it was in the biggest theatre in Britain, The Playhouse theatre, and filling that is a bit too much asked for an artist. But maybe Linda doesn't know this because the concert was in Scotland, not in England ...
There was a standing ovation, though, but that's normal at the end of a show.

Linda's letter goes on with some info on Sarah's activities in the near future. One of these things is a Christmas concert with Placido Domingo --- hopefully that'll be on TV somewhere around Christmas.
Most important for all fans is perhaps that Sarah is going to tour across Europe, Asia, America and Autralia from February to June 1998.

But alas: that tour has been postponed!; see above.
