Nightmares
|
||
Siehst du am Morgen die schweren Träume sie wachen über uns beide Und tief verborgen in uns'rer Sehnsucht sind sie wirklich wahr
Hörst du am Abend
Was ist die Erde
Siehst du am Morgen |
Do you see in the morning the nightmares they watch over both of us And deeply hidden in our longing they are really true
Do you hear in the evening
What is the earth
Do you see in the morning |
Music: F. Peterson, M. Soltau
Lyrics: K. Hirschburger, S. Brightman
From: Symphony (2008).
Source of the lyrics: the official Sarah Brightman website [thanks also to Johanna Ouwerling], with some corrections by Oliver Briese and me.
The translation into English is mine.
The literal translation of the title is "Heavy dreams", which sounds
peculiar. Johnny Thielen wrote me that "Schwere Träume" is old
German for "Nightmares" (nowadays in German called "Alpträume").
And so I have decided to use 'nightmares' throughout the translation.
Note that the song is an adaptation of the fourth movement ("Adagietto") of Symphony No. 5 (1901-02) from Gustav Mahler (1860-1911).
