The show The Phantom of the Opera contains a number called Think of me, sung by the characters Carlotta, Christine and Raoul. In the original London cast of The Phantom of the Opera Sarah Brightman played and sang the role of Christine, and thus she sang part of Think of me; Carlotta was played by Rosemary Ashe and Raoul by Steve Barton.

At a concert in Tokyo in 1998 Sarah sang a solo version of Think of me which has most of her original lyrics plus some other lyrics. The lines that differ are from the version of the song as sung in the USA & Canada staging of the musical [thanks to Luis Artola for this info]. Below follows on the left the original lyrics of Christine's part and on the right the lyrics of the solo Tokyo-version. In between the two are the lyrics of the USA & Canada staging of Phantom of the Opera [thanks to Luis Artola for these lyrics].

The original London cast recording is also released on Sarah's CD Encore (2002).

Sarah Brightman -- Think of me

original lyrics & on Encore USA & Canada version Sarah's solo Tokyo-version
Christine
Think of me
think of me fondly,
when we've said
goodbye.
Remember me
once in a while -
please promise me
you'll try.

When you find
that, once
again, you long
to take your heart back
and be free -
if you
ever find
a moment,
spare a thought
for me ...

We never said
our love
was evergreen,
or as unchanging
as the sea -
but if
you can still
remember,
stop and think
of me ...

Think of all the things
we've shared and seen -
don't think about the things
which might have been ...

Think of me,
think of me waking,
silent and
resigned.

Imagine me,
trying too hard
to put you
from my mind.

Recall those days,
look back
on all those times,
think of the things
we'll never do -
there will
never be
a day, when
I won't think
of you ...

Raoul
Can it be?
Can it be Christine?

What a change!
You're really
not a bit
the gawkish girl
that once you were ...

She may
not remember
me, but
I remember
her ...

Christine
We never said
our love
was evergreen,
or as unchanging
as the sea -
but please
promise me
that sometimes
you will think
ah-ah-ah-ah-aaah-of me!
Christine
Think of me
think of me fondly,
when we've said
goodbye.
Remember me
every so often -
promise me
you'll try.

On that day
that not so
distant day
when you are far away
and free,
if you ever find
a moment,
spare a thought
for me ...

And though it's clear
though it was,
always clear
that this was never meant
to be
if you happen to
remember,
stop and think
of me ...

Think of August
when the trees were green -
don't think about the way
things might have been ...

Think of me,
think of me waking,
silent and
resigned.

Imagine me,
trying too hard
to put you
from my mind.

Think of me
please say you'll
think of me
whatever else you choose
to do
There will
never be
a day, when
I won't think
of you ...

Raoul
Can it be?
Can it be Christine?
Brava! ... Brava!

Long ago!
it seems so long ago.
How young and innocent
we were ...
She may not remember me
but I remember her ...

Christine
Flowers fade
The fruits of summer fade ...
they have their seasons so do we ...
But please promise me that sometimes
you will think of me.

Think of me
think of me fondly,
when we've said
goodbye.
Remember me
every so often -
promise me
you'll try.

When you find
that, once
again, you long
to take your heart back
and be free -
if you
ever find
a moment,
spare a thought
for me ...

We never said
our love
was evergreen,
or as unchanging
as the sea -
but if
you can still
remember,
stop and think
of me ...

Think of August
when the trees were green -
don't think about the way
things might have been ...

Think of me,
think of me waking,
silent and
resigned.

Imagine me,
trying too hard
to put you
from my mind.

Recall those days
look back
on all those times,
think of the things
we'll never do -
there will
never be
a day, when
I won't think
of you ...

Flowers fade
The fruits of summer fade ...
they have their seasons so do we ...
But please promise me that sometimes
you will think of me.
