Sarah Brightman -- Whistle down the wind

Whistle down the wind
Let your voices carry
Drown out all the rain
Light a patch of darkness
Treacherous and scary

Howl at the stars
Whisper when you're sleeping
I'll be there to hold you
I'll be there to stop
The chills and all the weeping
Make it clear and strong
So the whole night long
Every signal that you send
Until the very end
I will not abandon you
My precious friend

So try and stem the tide
Then you'll raise a banner
Send a flare up in the sky
Try to burn a torch
And try to build a bonfire
Every signal that you send
Until the very end, I'm there
So whistle down the wind
For I have always been right there

Howl at the stars
Whisper when you're sleeping
I'll be there to hold you
I'll be there to stop
The chills and all the weeping
Make it clear and strong
So the whole night long
Every signal that you send
Until the very end
I will not abandon you
My precious friend

So whistle down the wind
Let your voices carry
Drown out all the rain
Light a patch of darkness
Treacherous and scary
Every signal that you send
Until the very end, I'm there

So whistle down the wind
For I have always been right there

Music: Andrew Lloyd Webber
Lyrics: Jim Steinman
The song was written for the musical "Whistle down the wind" (1998) by Lloyd Webber and Steinman.

From: Video "Sarah Brightman in concert" (1997).
At this concert video, Sarah sings the song accompanied by Andrew Lloyd Webber on piano.
The song was later released on Sarah's collection CD Encore (2002)
and: Love Changes Everything - The Andrew Lloyd Webber Collection, vol. 2 (2005).

Source of the lyrics: thanks to Aimee Birdsong, with a correction by Rodger Seaman and Colin M. Thanks also to Susam Hlavacek for telling me who wrote the lyrics.

Rodger Seaman checked the above lyrics against the version on the album of the soundtrack of the musical. There appear to be some differences:
-- 2nd stanza, 5th line: not "The tears and all ..." but "The chills and all ...", just like in the 4th stanza, where it is correct.
-- 5th stanza: instead of the first 5 lines given above (a repeat of the 1st stanza), the first 5 lines of the 3rd stanza are repeated: "So try and stem the tide / Then you'll ... build a bonfire".
