Sarah Brightman - Wishing you were somehow here again
as performed at the Royal Variety Performance in 1987

Her father promised her                                     [soft spoken text at beginning]
That he would send her the angel of music
Her father promised her ...
Her father promised her ...

You were once my one companion
You were all that mattered
You were once a friend and father
Then my world was shattered

Sometimes in my silent reveries
Seldom I shall not hear
Memories run by, grow in my mind
Reaching across the years

What I'd give to have you here again
God I really need you now.
Turn back my gaze, to far away days
Speak to me please, somehow.

Three long years, I've knelt in silence
Held your memory near me.
Three long years of murmured sorrows.
Willing you to hear me

What I'd give to have you here again.

Star in the sky,
Can you tell me why,
Heaven?s so far away.

What I'd give to have you here again
I've been alone so long

Echos of you, wake and break through
Scaring and strange and strong.

All the memories
All the wise and true
Parting memories,
Of the times we knew

What I'd give for you.

This version of Whishing you were somehow here again was performed by Sarah Brightman at the Royal Variety Performance in 1987 -- thanks to Carsten.

This version is clearly very different from the main version from The Phantom of the Opera and as released on Sarah's CDs.
