Weekly requests of my Web pages in 1997, 1998 and 1999

- in week 2 logging of the requests was not working for nearly
the whole week
- 1998:

but counting starts at 1 Jan. 1998
- week 52 ends with Sunday 27 Dec. 1998, when counting ends

but counting starts at 1 Jan. 1999
- week 52 ends with Sunday 2 Jan. 2000, when counting ends
- average over weeks 1 - 52: 15017.2 requests
- year total: 781589 requests
- in weeks 8 and 13 logging of the requests was not working
for a short while
-
In each graph the blue line shows a linear fit through in weekly requests as
plotted, the grey line the average.
-
About 3/4-th of the requests is for the Music and Lyrics Pages, which
contain more than half of the HTML files I have.
-
The count does of course not include HTML requests from local machines.
-
Note on Search Engines:
-
Search engines, i.e. computers roaming the Web in search of Web
pages to store in their data base,
actually pollute these statistics a bit: a request for a page
from such a machine means no-one is really looking at that page.
These machines should therefore be excluded, but that is a bit
difficult, as it is not always clear which machine is a search engine.
For that reason I have chosen not to exclude any of these.
A rough estimate I once made in March 1998 showed that some 20% of the
requests is probably from search engines.
